The Organization of Plastics Processors of India (OPP) is an exclusive forum of plastics processors.
It was formed in 1984 to promote co-operation among the plastics processors and protect their common interests. It represents and resolves the problems of the industry in matters relating to the Government policies, taxation, customs and excise levies, bank finance, raw materials, import and export etc. As a representative body of plastics processors, OPP is involved in evolving policies with the Government for the growth of the plastics industry, It is involved in educational and training programmes to develop skilled manpower for the processing industry.
It has a Code of Conduct for its members with the purpose of providing consumers with quality plastics products at reasonable prices.
It organizes seminars and workshops to disseminate and exchange latest information on plastics processing and their application.
It aims at educating policy makers in the Government and the public on the vital role of plastics in the national economy.
Today OPP members represents over 40% of the total plastics converting capacity in the country.
Organization of Plastics Processors of India takes delegations to foreign countries with the following objectives :
i) To consider the feasibility of establishing joint ventures
ii) Transfer of Technology
iii) To promote bi-lateral trade
Some of the countries visited by OPPI delegations are : China, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya and Uganda. Organization of Plastics Processors of India has signed MOUs with Myanmar Plastics Industry Group, Vietnam Saigon Plastics Association, Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam, Ethiopian Manufacturing Industries Association and Uganda Manufacturers’ Association.
It publishes a bi-monthly house journal ‘PLASTISCOPE’.
It is committed to promoting environmental excellence through plastics by replacing scarce natural raw materials, saving energy and improving the quality of life.
